Tina Daniac, like Pineda, gave a showstopper. Her first set of designs were in true Daniac fashion—cocktail dresses and gowns in sparkly black sporting a rock and roll edge mixed with her signature avant-garde luxe style. There were bodycons, A-line dresses, svelte-forming gowns and textured cocktail dresses with ruched and fringe bottoms. Some of this season’s trends are also present in her collection such as inner wear as outer wear and the sweetheart neckline. Everything was eye catching even in basic black.

Nothing was uptight in Daniac’s collection as even the models were styled with their hair let loose. We also love the fact that she used bustier models to parade with her clothes because it showed that her designs are for the sexy, fun and adventurous females.

Daniac’s second set was a far cry from her last season’s Grecian goddess inspired garb. Entitled Homage to Sabel, Daniac collaborated with National Artist Ben Cab to create a daring line of couture gowns. Sabel is a deranged woman in Ben Cab’s neighbourhood who was often seen picking up trash to add to her nest of a dress. She is also Bencab’ popular muse and has been featured in a number of his paintings.
The first piece from the line was a bouffant all white gown full of ruches and lace coupled with a heavy play on texture. The silhouette was akin to a Maria Clara but massively deconstructed and blown up in proportion. It was very whimsical and oddly beautiful.

From a plain white gown, the next pieces were brimming with color such as yellow paired with purple and red.

While some designs looked like mere piles of fabric (with questionable color schemes) drowning the model, some were stunning and awe-inspiring even with its crazy appeal. All in all, Homage to Sabel is a breath of fresh air to the ordinary pieces we’ve been seeing a lot on the runway and it would also probably attract more of the gutsy and artsy females. Ben Cab, who was also present during the show, must have been proud.
