Ladies and gents, Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010 has officially commenced. Brace yourself for on the dot updates and reports on the eye candy collections brought by our country’s most esteemed designers and clothing brands! Rest assured that we at thePOC will give you your needed fashion dosage straight from the runways to your monitors.
Starting off the first season of fashion week is the Visions and Trends/Design Fusion Collection featuring the following designers: Anna Leah Salvador, Aries Lagat, Benjie Pañizales, Don Protasio, Enrico Carado, Happy Andrada, Harley Ruedas, Jaki Peñalosa, Jan Garcia, Martin Bautista, Mitzi Quilendrino-Bustos, Nolie Viñeza, Norman Noriega, Patrick Galang and Raoul Ramirez.
Salvador’s designs were the first to walk the runway. Her collection's theme is edgy goth, consisting of this season’s trends such as disco-inspired sequins, velvet statement shoulders and sheer lace. The designs are very aggressive - we're glad the models werked it!

Lagat’s collection of sweetheart bodycons and A-line dresses is a mix of punchy colors, toned-down nudes, and a little bit of snakeskin fabric here and there. For someone who devoted his new collection to the great Alexander Mcqueen though, his collection was not surreal and adventurous enough. It’s too safe, as a matter of fact. The McQueen elements are there - brocade, animal skin, luxe, hyper-structured fabrics - but the other-worldliness that is the trademark of the icon was surely lost.

For Don Protasio, his inspiration was cult classic manga, the anime Naruto and the music of Floating Stone. True enough, his line of women and men’s wear imbibed this theme with hooded trench coats, button down shirts and biker jackets all in uniform true red. Too matchy-matchy for our tastes, but we appreciate the silhouettes that Protasio has created.

Stay tuned for the other half of the show tomorrow! All photos were shot by Francis Tuason using an Olympus E-30 with 90-250mm f/2.8 Zuiko Digital Lens. Some rights reserved. Please don't grab the photos without permission and please link back to us.
