Love is definitely in the air in 2014. Another showbiz couple joins the engagement fever. John Prats and Isabel Oli are the newest addition to list of local celebrity couples who got engaged this year. The two have been dating for two years. John Prats staged a grand wedding proposal last September 24 at the Eastwood Mall plaza in Quezon City.
The 30-year old actor/dancer/TV host proposed to his girlfriend, 32-year old actress/model Isabel Oli in front of hundreds of people.
On that night, Camille, Prats’ sister invited Oli to go to the mall. The latter thought it was just regular bonding time with her friend. Little did she know that it was going to be one of the most memorable moments of her life. They were walking along the mall when they noticed a crowd gathering at the middle of Eastwood Citywalk. Oli was urged by her friend to check it out. People around them suddenly started dancing and to her surprise, Prats’ appeared out of nowhere. He joined the mob of 300 dancers and slowly made his way to where Oli was standing. The actor’s message was flashed on the large video wall at the mall. Prats got on his knees and asked for Oli’s hand in marriage.
“Puwede ka bang maging Mrs. Prats ng buhay ko?” (Can you be Mrs. Prats of my life?), Prats said to Isabel.
Oli tearfully said “Yes” and the crowd screamed in delight. Fireworks flashed in the sky to signify the happy ending.
Prats spent three months preparing for the big event, according to Charisse Tinio, owner of Nice Print Photography, the photo and video company that Prats’ hired to cover the proposal.
Oli’s family and closest friends were there to witness the event. The couple’s celebrity friends, Angelica Panganiban and Chynna Ortaleza, were also present during the momentous event. They shared photos of the proposal on their respective Instagram accounts.

Daniel Padilla’s controversial audio-video recording
At first, Padilla was mum about the issue regarding the controversial audio-video featuring the conversation of two guys about texting a certain girl.
The recording mentioned: “Wala na si Patrick. Wala nang mangugulo sa ‘kin. Wala na ‘yung tropa ni Sam” (Patrick is gone. Nobody will trouble me anymore. The clique of Sam is gone.)
People were quick to speculate that one of the voices belonged to the young Padilla and the girl mentioned was Jasmine Curtis-Smith while Sam was linked to Curtis-Smith’s current boyfriend, Sam Concepcion.
Padilla and Curtis-Smith are part of the cast of the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo.”
The young actor finally broke his silence and told the media that everyone experiences challenges. He said that people in the country have worse problems than him. He is thankful to God for giving him this kind of problem because it strengthened his faith. When asked if a friend was behind the leakage, Padilla confirmed that the unnamed person is behind it all. He said that he is not close to that individual.
Meanwhile, his uncle, actor/director Robin Padilla defends the younger Padilla. He blames the traitor friend for the controversial leakage of the phone conversation. The older Padilla said that his nephew, Curtis-Smith and Kathryn Bernardo (Padilla’s onscreen partner) are all victims.
The older Padilla explains that conversations between male friends should be kept private. He warns his nephew that he belongs to a world where it is difficult to trust just anybody. He told his nephew to be wary of fake friends. He also said that it is normal for young men to admire beautiful women.
“Sa edad ni Daniel, kapag hindi siya humanga sa mga kababaihan, e, may problema” (At Daniel’s age, if he does not know how to admire women, then there’s a problem.)
“Hindi siya sa akin nagmana nun! Baka kay BB siya nagmana!” (He didn’t inherit that from me! May be he got it from BB!)
“Mabuti yun. Para sa akin, mabuti naman!” (That’s good. For me, it’s good!) Robin Padilla said jokingly.
He also asked bashers to stop circulating negative things about Daniel.
During the Bench “Naked Truth” fashion show, Padilla and onscreen partner Bernardo tightly embraced each other in front of the audience putting an end to rumors that the two are not in good terms.
