Here are some of the latest showbiz buzz as the month of June draws to an end.
Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos fight ends in a unanimous draw
Actors Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos agreed to settle their dispute by participating in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) Fight Night last June 25, 2016 at the Valkyrie Club in Bonifacio Global City.
The highly publicized side fight staged by URCC founder Alvin Aguilar ended in a unanimous draw that left many spectators disappointed and craving for more action. Elbow jabs and knees to the head were prohibited during the exhibition match.
Matos appeared to be the more aggressive fighter during the first round. Geisler was often seen on his back trying to shield himself from the Indie actor’s punches. During the second round, Geisler found an opportunity to be the one on top.
It didn’t turn out as a brutal match as people expected. Pep.ph reported that neither fighter landed any substantial hit during the two three-minute rounds.
There was a point during the fight where Matos appeared to spray urine on his opponent. The Indie actor clarified to ABS-CBN.com that it wasn’t urine but beer.
After the final bell, Matos was sprawled out on the floor trying to get his breath back. Fans who were clamoring for more were heard shouting, “One more round! One more round!”
Some thought that the organizers would give in to the fervor request of the audience but in the end, they announced a 19-19 unanimous draw.
Perhaps in a bid to add a little drama, Geisler shouted to the crowd, “Are you not entertained?” (somehow mimicking Maximus in the film “Gladiator”). Many exclaimed “No” especially those who expected a more fierce battle.
After the fight, the actors agreed to end their misunderstanding.
“Wala na, wala nang pride. Tanggal na ‘yung yabang. I believe we both respect each other as actors and human beings,” Geisler said on ABS-CBN.com. “Congratulations, Kiko,” he added.
Matos accepted Geisler’s genuine gesture. He returned Geisler’s embrace as a sign of a truce.
“Ang sabi ko mahal ko siya, wala nang bigwasan,” Matos said.
Kendra Kramer’s grand 7th birthday bash
Cager Doug Kramer and actress Chesca Kramer threw a princess-inspired birthday party for their eldest daughter Kendra at the Blue Leaf Events Pavillion in Taguig last June 26, 2016.
The young celebrant wore a dazzling red gown created by designer Mimi Ferrera Lazaro. Her sister Scarlett wore a pink ball gown while her brother Gavin put on a black suit.
It was a majestic party with royal-like decor and fantastic performances. Team Kramer was an image of a royal family. Some celebrities spotted at the lavish 7th birthday were Chesca’s brother Patrick Garcia and his wife Nikka Martinez, Antoinette Taus, Danica Sotto, Rica Peralejo, Anne Curtis, Bianca Gonzales and husband JC Intal, Sharmaine Arnaiz, Bettina Carlos, and many more.
During the party, Doug gave Kendra a promise ring as a symbol of his love and bond with his daughter. In his speech, he expressed how much the whole family loves her. He also reminded her to always keep a strong relationship with God.
Guests were touched when Kendra removed her tiara and placed it on her dad’s head. “Dear Daddy, I may find a prince someday but you will always be my king,” the young celebrant said.
Zsa-Zsa Padilla breaks up with fiancé
In September 2015, actress Zsa Zsa Padilla confirmed her engagement with Architect Conrad Onglao. They had plans of getting married in Florence, Italy this year.
Many people thought that Padilla and Architect Onglao were bound for the altar but after a two-year relationship, the couple decided to break their engagement.
Last month, actress Karylle confirmed that her mom called off the wedding without going into detail. Karylle requested the public to respect her mother’s privacy.
Padilla moved back to her home in Parañaque City, the house where she used to live with late partner Dolphy.
The actress shared that someone asked her why she hasn’t erased her old Instagram photos with Architect Onglao. Padilla said that she’s not like most people. She’s mature enough to accept reality without resorting to childish acts like deleting old posts and pretending that they did not happen.
Megastar Sharon Cuneta was the one who introduced Padilla to Onglao in 2014. The singer-actress is saddened about their break-up.
Regine Tolentino and Lander Vera-Perez call it quits
After 18 years of marriage, fitness guru Regine Tolentino and husband Lander Vera-Perez went separate ways. Tolentino admitted that they have been separated for a year.
Tolentino said that once upon a time, she was hopeless romantic. She was only 18 years old when she married her husband. One of the toughest things she realized in life is that nothing is really forever.
The celebrity dance instructor plans to legalize their separation.
At first, Tolentino admits that she and her daughters felt lost. However, as time passed they learned to be more independent. Now, she is more confident about being a single parent. Her solid relationship with her two daughters inspires her to always do her best. They encourage one another to hang on and remain strong despite the challenges in life.
“But then, I realized, okay, there is a bigger world out there and there’s so much you can do and accomplish and learn,” Tolentino told Pep.ph.
“Life is short, just go for it,” she added.
Sunshine Dizon and husband part ways
Timothy Tan admitted that he and wife Sunshine Dizon are having marital problems. They tried to save their marriage but failed. The couple agreed to file an annulment. Timothy and Sunshine have two children, a five-year old daughter and four-year old son.
Tan said that despite the unfortunate circumstances, he will not forsake his obligations as a father. Tan requested for privacy in this difficult time.
Speculations about their rocky marriage began when Dizon posted cryptic messages on her Instagram account about a certain woman named Clarissa Sison.
Dizon first posted a handwritten letter that read, “When I tell you I love you, I don’t say it out of habit. I say it to remind you that you’re one of the best things that ever happened”. It was accompanied by the caption, “Hello Clarissa! Clang Sison, Claris of St. Lukes Clarissa Soriano Sison”.
Dizon also posted a solo photo of a woman with the caption, “Oh and by the way, how was it like to live so near me? Exactly 3 floors up in the same building were my children and i live. And did you also enjoyed your U.S trip recently? So excited to hear all about it, im pretty sure your husband will be so happy also. I do hope its all worth it.”
