The only daughter of actors Amalia Fuentes and Romeo Vasquez, passed away at 6:15 a.m. in The Medical City in Pasig due to multiple organ failure.

Martinez was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2008 and later diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in 2011.

In September 2015, physicians found out that Martinez’s cancer had spread to the liver and stomach lining. According to her husband, Martinez fought until the end because she wanted to experience much more in life. She longed to see their daughter graduate in June and meet their future grandchildren.

Martinez traveled to California with her daughter Alissa in January 2015. Her husband referred to it as a sentimental journey where she visited their old houses and met up with friends. “She was like saying goodbye to everyone,” her husband said.

Albert said that he helped his wife fulfill several items on her bucket list such as bungee-jumping in Norway and scuba diving in Palawan. However, they chose not to go skydiving out of fear of dying in mid-air.

The late actress left a will, written back in 2010. Her husband and family followed every small instruction.

A fuming Amalia Fuentes stormed out of the Arlington Memorial Crematorium in Quezon City. She claimed that she was ignored and not given a role during the final rites of her only daughter.

Alam ninyo ba kung bakit ako na-late? Hindi ko alam saan gagawin. Sila sila ang nag-decide, yung mga bestfriend, yung mga ganun. Ako, where was I? Nowhere. Nobody talked to me,” Fuentes exclaimed.

Albert felt sad about what happened. He said that it was never his intention to exclude anyone especially his mother-in-law. He said that he was only fulfilling the last wishes of his beloved wife.

Melissa Mendez in plane offloading incident

melissamA Cebu Pacific Air flight headed for Mindanao was forced to return to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on March 20, 2015 (Friday) due to an unruly passenger. The concerned passenger was later identified as actress Melissa Mendez.

The actress had an altercation with a co-passenger named Rey Pamaran, a businessman who claimed that Mendez punched her.

According to the actress, she temporarily sat on Pamaran’s reserved seat because she wanted to take pictures of the clouds. She claimed that she politely asked Pamaran if she could sit there for a while so she could take some photos.

She said that her request was answered by hostility. Pamaran allegedly threatened to hit her with a bag if she did not leave the seat that he paid for.

E sabi niya, ‘kapag hindi ka umalis dyan hahampasin ko mukha mo ng bag ko,'” Medez said. “Lalaki siya, e, so nagulat ako gano’n ang reaksyon niya. At the top of my voice, nagalit talaga ako.”

Pamaran claimed that Mendez asked him and his companion, Andrew Wolff, an actor and athlete, to occupy the seats at the back. He did not agree because they specifically paid for those seats to have more leg room. Mendez, however, refused to vacate the seat. She insisted in sitting there so she could take pictures of clouds. He was irritated by Mendez’s childish whim. Pamaran said on an interview , “E, anong gagawin namin, tatayo lang kami sa harap?

A woman passenger posted a collage of the incident on her Instagram account branding Mendez as a “crazy old war freak of a lady wouldn’t stop screaming and charging at Andre Wolff’s bodyguard”. She poured her frustration on IG saying that their flight was delayed for 30 minutes due to a petty fight about seat assignment. She also stated that after the punching incident, the captain announced that they were returning to manila due to an unruly passenger.

After the plane controversy, Wolff posted a series of videos on his Instagram showing Mendez being escorted off the plane by officials. Wolff received a lot of criticisms which prompted the actor-athlete to make his IG account private. He told his haters to unfollow him because he doesn’t need them or their comments. Wolff said that he posted the videos as evidence in order to correct the wrong allegations of some members of the media. He claimed that they were the aggrieved party and not the other way around.

Mendez said during an interview that she was not banned by the airline. She confirmed that she was just advised to rebook her flight.
