Pop culture and beauty go hand-in-hand. People have always been inspired by characters in movies, TV series, cartoons and even comic books. Lucky for us, the makeup masters are beauty wizards, who see the potential behind marrying beauty and pop culture. Besides, buying a good quality makeup is one thing and getting a collectible is another. So if you can have both, then you’ve got yourself a good find. So let us all get our geeky selves ready for a few of the makeup brands that will make us find “the force”, wink like Betty Boop, choose between Betty and Veronica, say “D-oh!” like Homer Simpson and use magic to defeat evil wizards.

Cover Girl’s Star Wars Makeup

Cover Girl Star Wars

Every beauty geek will enter the dark side as Covergirl creates their Star Wars collection. That’s right, beauty products inspired by the Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens showing this December. You know that these makeup products aren’t just pleasing the Star Wars fanatics, but also beauty junkies, as makeup artist Pat McGrath helped with the collection. The collection consists of mascaras (from the dark to the light side). But the best part is the Star Wars quotes printed on the products like, “May the force be with you”. Aside from the Yoda quotes, there are crazy colored lipsticks such as orange sparkle that looks somewhat gold, grey silver, metallic violet, deep burgundy, deep plum, and a nude shade. For the nails, they’ve got three shades: a platinum shade, bright red and another deep plum. Gawk at the beautiful rich colors and with every product, may the geeky fashionista force be with you!

MAC’s Archie Collection

Archie’s girls, Betty and Veronica are making their mark with MAC. They’ve got the full set from unique lipstick colors such as the Oh, Oh, Oh Lipstick, a dark brown shade, and Boyfriend Stealer Lipstick, a deep faded plum shade, which are just two of the six lipstick shades the collection offers. They also have lipglasses with the cutest names such as Kiss & Don’t Tell Lipglass. Their four eyeliners vary from colors of Petrol Blue, Black Swan, Designer Purple and Pearlglide.

Are you a Betty or a Veronica? Their two mascaras named after these two popular comic book girls will make you decide. For those who are daring when it comes to color, their magic spells pigments are to drool over, such as their eye shadow quads that have combinations from more toned down shades to comic art colors. You can’t come any closer to comic pop art than this.

When lippies are as magical as Harry Potter’s world, you’d be sure to strap on your wizardry excitement. From a deep wine red Ravenclaw, navy blue-like Sirius, pop mint more known as Severus, beautifully mocha brown termed Nymph-Adora, poison ivy green like the Nagini, purple called Bellatrix, an everyday pink termed Lovegood and lastly, to my favorite name, a hot pink called Hermione. These matte long-wear lippies are without a doubt beautifully diverse and casts out all the adventurous colors a makeup junkie would die for. Muggles shall now cast spells in style.

MAC’s The Simpsons Collection

MAC The Simpsons

This may have been released last year, but it’s so jaw-droppingly impressive, we couldn’t help but add it to the list. MAC’s Simpson collection not only boasts of a cool cartoon packaging that perfectly combines the Simpsons theme and MAC’s simplicity, but it has a variety of products. From eyelash falsies to stick-on nail art, to colorful and bright colors you often see in the cartoon – bright yellow, hot pink, orange and purple pink. Their Eyeshadow Quads are only for the brave, sporting metallic and unusual eye colors, from green to Marge hair blue.

Lancome’s Hypnose Star (Starring Betty Boop)Lancome Betty Boop

An oldie but a goodie, if there’s one thing about Betty Boop to be envious about, it is her luscious eyelashes and fierce eyeliner. Yes, she may be a cartoon, but Lancome believes she’s the perfect representative for their Hypnose Star. Their eye shadows go from sultry pinks, blues to blacks. And the mascara sends long lashes battering like Ms. Betty, giving beauty geeks doll-like lashes. We’re sure this deserves a wink from the iconic cartoon.

Beauty can be fun, relatable, and exciting. But best of all, the brilliant minds that work behind these beauty brands are also pop culture fanatics just like us. Purchasing a good product is one thing, but packaging and limited edition showcases are showstoppers. With more brands opening their doors to pop culture influences, there’s sure to be more editions to watch out for!
