Pinoy showbiz’s most doting dads: Robin Padilla, Ryan Agoncillo, Vic Sotto, Aga Muhlach and Doug Kramer

These celebrity dads show that you can have it all – a career and a happy family life – if you’re willing to go the extra mile. Busy careers and all, these dads continue to be role models to their kids and make them their top priority.

RYAN AGONCILLO

TV host and actor Ryan Agoncillo is very hands on in raising his two kids, Yohan and Lucho, with wife Judy Ann Santos. They are also expecting their third bundle of joy early next year. Ryan considers his dad as the perfect role model. “I learn from the best. My dad is an excellent dad. I have 35 years of tutoring and still learning from him,” he said.

For Ryan, it is very important that he and Juday schedule their work so that their family time will not be compromised. “Everything that we do and we need to do have to be factored in, including playtime with our dogs is well-planned,” he said.

“Mondays to Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (hosting) Eat, Bulagapo yun. In the morning, while my kids are not up yet, that’s the time Juday and I exercise. We wake up at 5 a.m. By the time we get home, pagising palang si Yohan and Lucho. Habang naliligo sila, I play with our dogs. Up until our bedtime, every hour counts. So, it’s just a matter of budgeting time and spending quality time,” he added.

DOUG KRAMER

Basketball superstar Doug Kramer looks tough inside the court, but he is a softie when it comes to his three small kids –Kendra, Scarlett and Gavin. Dubbed as #Team Kramer with his wife Cheska, their family has become an online superstar with over 1.2 million followers and they have indeed become an inspiration to all young families in the country.

Doug claims he is a “natural father”. It is a natural thing for him to want spending time with his kids. He and Cheska are very hands-on parents. He is a gentle giant who bathes his kids and prepares the baby’s milk in the morning. Yayas are just there to assist them. He also wants to raise God-fearing children so he routinely reads them Bible stories and make them pray before meals.

Doug said his parents have always been around when he was growing up and he wants to be the same to his kids. He also disciplines them when needed so they will grow up responsibly.

VIC SOTTO

He is a natural comedian but he takes his role as a father very seriously. Vic Sotto is known as a lover boy and a silent charmer to women even up to know in his mature age of 61 years old. He has four children from three different women – Oyo Boy and Danica Sotto from his marriage with actress Dina Bonnevie, Vico from his former Eat Bulaga co-host Coney Reyes and Paulina from Angela Luz, another co-host from Eat Bulaga.

He continues to provide for his four children and makes sure he makes time for his kids during the weekends. In an interview he also said how he wants his children to grow up.

In a way I’m lenient in some ways and strict in some ways. But I’m not the type of father na makikialam sa private life nila. Anyway, they are old enough to know what’s right and what’s good for them. I want them to be independent and responsible, hindi masyadong pinakikialam ng magulang. I guess I’m lucky that all my children are level-headed and responsible. Naiintindihan nila ang kalagayan ng Tatay nila.”

Vic said he doesn’t spoil his kids too much but when they deserve to be rewarded, he rewards fairly well. Just recently, Paulina graduated cum laude in Ateneo de Manila University and he gave her an Audi Q3 – a high-end luxury car as a graduation gift. Vic is also consistently investing in real estate and would like to give each of his children a property when he retires.

Despite being loved by his four kids and being a good provider for all of them, he knows that his fathering is not in ideal set-up and he advises other men to avoid having children from different mothers if possible. He said it is not easy on the children and he was just lucky that the mothers of his kids were sensible and raised them all well.

ROBIN PADILLA

He is dubbed as the Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema in the 90s, but he has changed ever since he was imprisoned because of illegal carrying of firearms in 1996 and has converted to Islam. He has four kids from his marriage to Liezl Sicangco, which includes Ali, Queenie, Kylie and Zhen-Zhen. He also has a son from actress Jobelle Salvador – Mico and a daughter from former Model Leah Orosa- Camille.

Despite being separated now from Liezl, Robin tries to continue being close to his kids. When he separated from his first wife, he was tasked in taking care of Queenie and Kylie Padilla who became actresses.

He is a very protective dad to his children’s careers. He also says that he is stricter with his daughters just because in his religion, there are many restrictions for women. Recently, Queenie married his partner in Islam rites and Kylie is the only one continuing in showbiz. Since Kylie is already turning 22, she is now allowed to do kissing scenes but is still asked to refrain from exposing too much skin. Kylie, for her part, admits having a hard time with Robin’s rules, but said she will compromise in respect to her dad.

Just last Christmas, Robin was also reunited with his eldest daughter Camille whom he has not seen for four years.

AGA MUHLACH

Aga has always been private about his family life. After getting married to Charlene Gonzales in the ‘90s and having a pair of beautiful twins- Andres and Atasha, Aga has been spending a lot of time in his Batangas farm with his family. Because he has been on the spotlight since his childhood, he wants his children to enjoy being normal kids. Their seven-hectare farm serves as the kids “little paradise”.

He is very much in love with Atasha and Andres but he doesn’t spoil them to bits. “We don’t buy them expensive toys. The only expensive toys they have are the ones given to them as gifts,” he said. “We don’t want them to get used to expensive things so they will not look for them when they grow up. We want to raise them the normal way without lavishing them with material things,” he added.

He also has an older son-Iggy Boy with actress Janice De Belen. Despite not ever being able to live together, Iggy Boy is still very grateful to his father especially now that he has a family of his own.

“I was never given the chance to be like you. I look up to you, gusto kong maging parang ikaw hindi dahil ikaw si Aga Muhlach or you’re financially stable or you’re famous, but my dad is a really good guy. I really want to be like him kasi ang dami niyang taong natulungan sa buhay niya. Ang daming nagmamahal sa kanya.

Luigi has always valued his father’s wisdom and takes them to heart. He promised Aga that he would put his family first because he knows it is the most important thing in the world.

He is a very protective dad to his children’s careers. First of all because they are girls and probably because he has been around the business for the longest time and would not like his children to be compromised. He also says that he is stricter with his daughters just because in his religion, there are many restrictions for women. Recently, Queenie his partner married in Islam rites and Kylie is the only one continuing in showbiz. Just last Christmas, Robin was also reunited with his eldest daughter Camille whom he has not seen for four years.
