Fans get giddy when they see their favorite love team onscreen. It’s a dream come true to witness their favorite celebrities end up as real life partners. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with a happy ending.
Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion
Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion first met in 1981 on the set of the movie, “Dear Heart,” a film about teenage love. It was also Cuneta’s debut movie. Their love team clicked and they were once again paired on the same year in the film “P.S. I Love You”.
The showbiz tandem quickly developed a large following of fans. They continued to make more movies together namely “My Only Love” (1982), “Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin” (1984), and “Sa Hirap at Ginhawa” (1984).
The onscreen chemistry developed in real life. Fans were ecstatic when the couple announced their engagement. They first had a civil wedding. Cuneta and Concepcion had their church wedding on September 23, 1984. It was a grand wedding with then president Ferdinand Marcos serving as principal sponsor. Some said that their wedding was a Philippine version of U.K.’s Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s royal ceremony.
Cuneta was already pregnant at the time of the wedding. In April 1985, the celebrity couple was blessed with a daughter that they christened as Maria Kristina Cassandra Concepcion (KC).
Sadly, the fairy tale marriage was short-lived. Cuneta cited irreconcilable differences as the main reason for their separation. Despite the sad turn of events, Cuneta devoted herself to her daughter and continued her career in showbiz.
In 1990, the estranged couple reunited in front of the camera for the movie, “Bakit Ikaw Pa Rin?” They also made other movies like “Una Kang Naging Akin” (1991) and “Tayong Dalawa” (1992).
The next reunion took 17 years later when Cuneta and Concepcion made a guest appearance in “BFF: Best Friends Forever” starring Comedy Queen Ai Ai delas Alas.

Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres
Lucy Torres who hails from the province of Ormoc had a crush on actor Richard Gomez since she was 12 years old. Lucy was a big fan of the hunky actor. She watched all of his TV shows and movies. She once made a joke to her family that someday she would marry Richard Gomez. Little did she know that her dream would become a beautiful reality?
A talent scout saw Torres’ picture on a magazine coverage of her debut and pulled strings to get Torres to do the Lux commercial. At first, Torres had no idea who the male model would be because the agency wanted to keep it a secret. When she finally found out that she was going to work opposite Gomez, Torres was ecstatic. The actor made an appearance on the last shooting day of the commercial. He was nice and friendly to Torres and her sister. He even treated them to sundaes at the nearby McDonald’s . The sentimental Torres even kept the plastic teaspoon as a reminder of what she considered their “first date”.
Torres and Gomez saw each other once a year in the next four years. It was only on the fifth year when Gomez really noticed Torres. After they shot the last commercial, Gomez called Torres more frequently. The dark, tall and handsome actor fell for the flawless beauty from Ormoc.
Torres proposed to Gomez in December 1997. They got married on April 28, 1998. They have been blessed with one daughter named Juliana.

In 2008, Agoncillo proposed to Santos during her 30th birthday at the Antulang Beach Resort in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. One year later, the couple tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony in a town in Batangas. Their adopted daughter, Yohan walked down the isle with Santos.
