Workers belonging to newly-founded labor alliance PAGGAWA or Pagkakaisa ng Manggagawa will not only commemorate International Labor Day with traditional activities but will also use the occasion to air their demands on gut issues that affect working class families.
The groups will converged at Plaza Miranda, Quiapo, around 8am before marching towards Mendiola Bridge where they will hold their program.
PAGGAWA will assert the revocation of DO-174 which perpetuates and legalizes the abusive practice of contractual employment, the immediate termination of Silvestre Bello as cabinet secretary of the Labor department and the demand that President Duterte sign the draft Executive Order submitted by BMP in November last year, that will prohibit all forms of contractualization.
Besides BMP, PAGGAWA is composed of Association of Genuine Labor Organizations (AGLO) and National Federation of Labor Unions (NAFLU), Solidarity of Unions in the Philippines for Empowerment and Reform Federation (SUPER) and Metro East Labor Federation (MELF).
It can be remembered that Leody de Guzman BMP president declined the invitation of the president to join him in Davao on Labor Day
The mobilization shall also be joined by groups such as Sanlakas, Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM), Kongreso ng Pagkakaisa ng Maralitang-Lungsod and Samahan ng Progresibong Kabataan (SPARK).
Similar mobilizations shall also be held at Bacolod, Cebu, Tacloban and Davao.
