Derek Ramsay’s estranged wife Mary Christine Jolly filed a concubinage case against the actor and his former girlfriend Angelica Panganiban in Parañaque City Hall last Wednesday. Jolly said she would use the tell-all interview of Angelica Panganiban in the April 2013 issue of Star Studio Magazine as evidence that Ramsay was violating the law.
Article 334 of the Revised Penal Code states that a wife could file charges against her husband if he “shall keep a mistress in the conjugal dwelling, or shall have sexual intercourse, under scandalous circumstances, with a woman who is not his wife, or shall cohabit with her in any other place.” The woman should also have knowledge that the man (husband) is married. And if found guilty, the husband could be imprisoned for six months up to six years. Also, the mistress will be prohibited from being with the husband within 25 kilometers for a given time.
These are the statements from Angelica’s tell-all interview, which became the grounds for Jolly’s charge against Derek and Angelica:
“On the second year of their relationship [...] Derek suggested to Angelica that they live together in one house and transform their relationship into a setup just like that of a husband and wife.
“The idea was not something Angelica immediately embraced with open arms…But since she was drunk with love, she closed her eyes and agreed to the arrangement. ‘Gagawin ko lahat, ‘wag mo lang akong hiwalayan,’ was her running thought.”
“Her mother Annabelle helped her fix the house on the day she moved in, Derek being away on an assignment. ‘Naaalala ko nung first night ko dun sa house namin… iyak ako nang iyak,’ she says. ‘Tapos nagdadasal ako, ‘Tama ba ‘tong ginagawa ko?'”
Jolly also believes that Angelica knew about her marriage with Derek:
“Cris Navarro, Angelica’s handler, says the actress had warned her, several months prior, that this news would erupt. ‘Matagal mo na itong alam?’ asked Cris. ‘Oo naman, tita. Bago ako pumasok sa relationship na ito, alam ko naman yan. At saka sa akin naman, hindi naman ako pumasok na para sirain ang family. Bago naman siya, meron namang girlfriend di ba?’ ‘Basta tanggap mo, wala akong problema.'”
Ramsay and Jolly tried to have a personal settlement to end the case but when the fees of Jolly’s attorney was included in the items he had to pay for, he backed out from the agreement. The ex-wife is now seeking P42 million in damages for spouse and child support.
Meanwhile, Derek took to Twitter to apologize to Angelica for getting her name dragged into the case. He said, “I would like to apologize to Angel, her family and all her fans for what’s happening right now. I assure you hindi ko siya papabayaan.”
Angelica, on the other hand, has not released any official statement on the issue but posted a happy picture of her and her boyfriend John Lloyd in Instagram and said she was happy.

Suspect to murder of Cherry Pie’s mother admits to crime
Last September 19, Cherry Pie Picache’s old mother Zenaida was found dead in their home. The quest to find the suspect was seriously attended by the police and just last week, Michael Flores was caught. In the suspect’s first statement, he said that he indeed was part in killing the old woman but he also had two men with him, which he named “Bruno” and “Kuya Weng”. But days after being detained, he changed his statement and said that he was the only one who killed Zenaida.
According to his narration, he went inside Picache’s house and took the victim’s cellphone and jewelry. Suddenly, Zenaida woke up and started screaming and he had no choice but to kill the old woman with a kitchen knife and a piece of wood.
Cherry Pie was furious upon seeing the suspect and repeatedly asked the suspect why he killed her poor mother. The suspect asked for forgiveness but Picache is determined to pursue the case until Flores is finally convicted.
The suspect is charged with robbery with homicide and qualified trespass to dwelling.
