Asian beauties copped special awards. Miss Singapore Tania Lim Kim Suan was Best in Evening Gown and South Korea beauty Yang Younghwa was awarded Miss Photogenic. Regional crowns were also awarded. Miss China Chen Guiqing was declared the "Queen of Asia," Miss Slovak Republic Sabina Ovariova the "Queen of Europe" and Miss Zambia Mofya Chisenga the "Queen of Africa."
Also known as the International City Ambassador Competition, the contest included a national costumes competition, collective dance competition, swimsuit competition and evening dress competition. The question and answer portion also determined who will take home the laurel for "Beauty of the World" this year.
Organized and produced by the World Beauty Congress (WBC), the pageant was one of the highlights of the grand 2009 China Kunming International Cultural Tourism Festival which opened May 1. Kunming is a prefecture-level city and capital of Yunnan province in southwestern China. It is dubbed as the "Spring City" or "City of Eternal Spring" because of its year-round temperate climate.
Jordan, a Hotel Industry & Hospitality Management graduate from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, is the reigning Sanita Ti Ilocos Sur 2009. She has done well in major beauty pageants in the country and abroad, being a 2006 Mutya ng Pilipinas runner-up, a 2006 Miss Philippines-Earth semifinalist, 2005 Miss Calabarzon and a Miss Secret Charm special awardee at the 2006 Miss Tourism Queen of the Year search in Malaysia.
