The Philippine Dragon Boat team won two gold medals at the 9th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships, beating teams from 22 other countries in the 200-meter premier open and mixed categories.
Led by Philippine Dragon Boat Federation President Benjie Ramos and head coach Nestor Ilagan, the team broke its previous record of 41.91 seconds with a 40.022-second finish in the 200-meter premier open category.

succeeded in making the Philippines bigger in the world of dragon
boat,” said
Ilagan.
The tournament was held from August 26-31 in Prague, Czech Republic. The 10th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships will be held in Tampa, Florida in 2011.
