E-mailThe Philippine Dragon Boat team won two gold medals at the 9th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships, beating teams from 22 other countries in the 200-meter premier open and mixed categories.
Led by Philippine Dragon Boat Federation President Benjie Ramos and head coach Nestor Ilagan, the team broke its previous record of 41.91 seconds with a 40.022-second finish in the 200-meter premier open category.
“Our paddlers did their best and
succeeded in making the Philippines bigger in the world of dragon
boat,” said
Ilagan.
The tournament was held from August 26-31 in Prague, Czech Republic. The 10th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships will be held in Tampa, Florida in 2011.
