Eli Manning, who was voted the Most Valuable Player, led the Giants to a second Super Bowl victory against the Patriots in four years.
The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional American football in the United States. It started in 1966 as the championship match between the winners of then-rival leagues NFL and American Football League. The two have since been redesignated as conferences.

Besides the main event, football fans got to watch this year's Super Bowl advertisements.
With more than 100 million television viewers, commercial airtime during the broadcast of the match runs for millions of dollars, prompting advertisers to pull the stops on their Super Bowl commercials.
Wall Street Journal reported that this year, NBC charged USD3.5 to 4 million for every 30-second airtime during the championship match.
But the excitement over this year's Super Bowl advertisements started earlier, with many companies releasing their commercials on the Internet days before the big day. Volkswagen, for instance, set the mood for the much anticipated sequel of their 2011 Super Bowl commercial The Force by publishing a teaser that featured dogs "barking" the Star Wars theme.
It turned out that their 2012 Super Bowl ad – The Dog Strikes Back – was about a dog:
Aside from Super Bowl regulars Coke, Pepsi, Honda, among others, this year's game day also featured new trailers of two of the most anticipated big budget films of 2012, The Avengers and John Carter.
Some of the most notable television commercials in the past such as Apple's 1984 advertisement and McDonald's 1993 ad featuring Michael Jordan and Larry Bird debuted during Super Bowl.
