A hunk with a British accent topped the most frequently-searched topics on Google in the Philippines within a single week of his arrival.

Ed Westwick, the actor who plays Chuck Bass in the American TV series Gossip Girl, became the “fastest newsmaker in the Philippines,” being the most Googled personality in the country following his visit to the Philippines from May 27 to June 3.

According to Google Philippines, Westwick was “the most searched personality in the Philippines” after visiting Manila for a photo shoot as part of Pennshoppe's 25th anniversary.

“It's my first time in the Philippines... I'm just here to work for a couple of days. I'm just going to have a really good time,” he said.

The top 10 newsmakers last week, as recorded by Google Philippines, were: (1) Ed Westwick, (2) Dallas Mavericks, (3) Miami Heat, (4) Selena Gomez, (5) LeBron James, (6) Dirk Nowitzki, (7) Julia Montes, (8) Kim Chiu, (9) Kathryn Bernardo, and (10) Avril Lavigne.

In an interview with Ricky Lo, the Gossip Girl star mentioned the possibility of shooting the series here in Asia.

“I say, 'Why not?' There are so many fantastic locations all over Asia, it's such a picturesque region. There are so many beautiful beaches in the Philippines,” Westwick said.
