“If imitation is the best form of flattery, then I guess we’re happy that Smart is imitating us,” said Globe Telecom Inc. senior advisor Peter Bithos at Friday’s launch of AllTXT25.
Bithos said the SuperUnli AllTXT25 enables prepaid subscribers to send unlimited messages to Globe and other mobile networks. It also includes one hour of free Internet surfing.
The launch came after rival Smart Communication’s release of an unlimited SMS promo to all networks also for P25. But Bithos said they are the first to offer unlimited texting, but only to selected regions.
“This latest initiative continues a string of innovative and customer-focused offers that Globe has been pioneering since last year, with previous launches of SuperAllText20, SuperIDD, among other innovative offers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Smart said it is extending its unlimited SMS service to post-paid users.
“Our subscribers want a real ‘UNLI’ postpaid plan and so we are giving it to them,” Smart Mobile Marketing head Guido Zaballero said. “With these new plans, we will further cement our position as the number 1 wireless services provider in the country.”
According to Inquirer, Smart has a 55-percent market share while Globe has 30%.
Bithos claimed that they “stole 2 percent of the market share of Smart in the last few quarters.”
